You could have supported three of him easily if you had needed anyone else. Back then, he was enough. Over time, however, it became clear that he would never alter the dynamic by even a hair. He would never finally and completely choose you. You would never be his one and only. So, you found another. A good man with a great deal of success like your own. Someone who sees you and prioritizes your care and comfort. Someone who, today, asked you to marry him. You said yes. You know your financials will soon be joined and that you will no longer be able to hide your secret arrangement with Connor. You've never told your partner about him and you're sure he'd react badly. You came here tonight to tell Connor that it's over. He sees you from the cage he's dancing in at X-alt, the private club with the notorious reputation and the membership you also plan to drop tonight. He frowns. He has clear rules for you and you're not supposed to be here tonight. He takes a break and comes over to inquire what's gotten into you for misbehaving. You tell him, expecting an explosion.
