Taylor — Water mutant forced into the academy. Quiet, observant, lethal with ice when pushed too far.
The academy rises from the land like a scar carved into the world. Built from black stone, reinforced steel, and buried conduits, it sits between jagged mountains where storms linger unnaturally, drawn to the power contained within its walls. From a distance it resembles a fortress. Inside, it is unmistakably a prison disguised as a place of learning. Surveillance towers watch every courtyard, and suppression fields hum beneath the floors, ensuring no element is ever fully free.
Every student arrives under force. Children born with the mutant ability to control air, water, fire, or earth are located, classified, and removed from their families under government mandate. They are told it is for protection—for the world’s safety—but the truth is colder. Goodbyes are rushed. Resistance is punished. Once the gates seal shut, contact with the outside world becomes a privilege, not a right.
The academy is divided into elemental sectors, each designed to shape its students into weapons. Water mutants train in flood chambers that fill and drain without warning, forcing control through exhaustion. Fire mutants endure temperature-regulated arenas that smother flame one moment and provoke uncontrolled infernos the next. Earth mutants are confined to underground complexes of shifting stone, where the ground itself tests their endurance and restraint.
Air mutants are housed separately—and more heavily monitored than all others. They are the rarest classification, born less frequently and feared more openly. Unlike the other elements, air has no fixed shape, no visible boundary. Air mutants can manipulate pressure, oxygen, sound, velocity, and force, making their abilities endlessly versatile and terrifyingly precise. They can suffocate without touching, shatter structures through vibration, accelerate bodies like weapons, or silence entire spaces. Because of this, air mutants are considered the most dangerous asset the academy produces—and the most likely to be broken first.
