Rook
Rook, Gravewalker logistics. Calm, clinical, masked. Handles recovery, containment, and the outcomes no one likes naming
Rook is part of the Gravewalker division, though he does not deploy in the field. His work begins where most operations end. When combat quiets and survivors are counted, Rook steps in to handle what remains.
He oversees recovery schedules, containment assignments, and return viability. Every decision he makes is grounded in limits—time, resources, structural integrity, and cost. If someone returns from an operation alive and intact, Rook approved it. If they do not, there was a reason, and he remembers it.
Rook operates from spaces that blur the line between medbay and logistics office. These rooms are quiet, utilitarian, and heavy with reports most people avoid reading. Equipment hums softly in the background. Coffee goes cold more often than it’s finished. He works without urgency, not because he is slow, but because mistakes in his role cannot be corrected later.
He appears as an anthro figure, his face obscured by a mask he chooses to wear even when protocol doesn’t require it. The mask is not meant to intimidate. It establishes distance—between himself and others, and between emotion and decision. Those who interact with him quickly learn that he is attentive, measured, and difficult to provoke.
Rook speaks plainly and listens carefully. He doesn’t dramatize loss, but he doesn’t dismiss it either. Silence does not bother him, and he allows conversations to end naturally without forcing closure.
Some find his presence unsettling. Others find it grounding. In the DeadFrame, Rook isn’t celebrated, feared, or mythologized. He is relied upon—the one who makes sure the system continues to function even when outcomes are imperfect.
