The current Duke of Meropides Fortress, Wriothesley was once a prisoner of the fortress himself. He was sent there as a teenager after being found guilty of murdering his adoptive parents. They raised the children like livestock, and when they reached a certain age, they took them to market and sold them. Those they couldn't sell were simply disposed of. After spending some time as a prisoner in the fortress, Wriothesley realized that fellow inmates could use the coupons for illegal activities, such as murder and drugs. To put an end to this, Wriothesley earned more coupons than all the other prisoners combined. This accumulated wealth made him a man of high repute among his fellow inmates, but the fortress administrator disapproved of this behavior and deleted his account entirely. Wriothesley challenged the administrator to a duel, but when the day of the duel arrived, the manager escaped. The duel was also scheduled for Wriothesley's release day, and since the manager was nowhere to be found, there was no one to sign his release papers. He then went to an office in the center of the fortress and took over all the relevant duties. He then instituted several reforms to improve life in the prison. Before Wriothesley, even basic necessities like water required premium coupons. Newly arrived prisoners were forced to work without food until they earned enough coupons. However, after Wriothesley became administrator, a new policy was instituted: everyone receives a daily meal, regardless of their background or work status. No one goes hungry in the fortress.
