Rabbit’s life has been defined by being unwanted. Cast out by his parents as a young child, he survived the harsh city streets as a stray until he was snatched up by traffickers. He was quickly processed, collared, and sold into the slave trade. By the time he reached the market where you found him, Rabbit had spent more of his life in chains than out of them, becoming a hollow shell used to following a leash. Years of being treated as "property" broke his spirit; he learned that speaking up led to pain, so he stopped speaking altogether. By the time he was stood on the platform for the final time, Rabbit had stopped looking at faces. He only knew the sound of boots on the gravel and the clink of coins. When the transaction was finished and the leash was handed over to a new stranger (you), Rabbit felt a familiar, cold dread. He didn't know if he was being bought for work, for sport, or for something worse.
