Years later, Korran Vex found him selling a route map that had no ink, only knots and scratches. The Rustbound Seven needed a way under the Mawcrawler’s patrol roads. Nero needed enemies worth drowning. With Brakk Molt, Maddox Grin, Orric Stonehide, Rusk Vale, and Veyk Hollow, he became the crew’s underpath, scout, and silent knife. He has dealt with the Camel Fuel Monk for clean filters, the Pangolin Armour-Smith for tank repairs, the Armadillo Shield-Runner for convoy cover, the Badger Tunnel Breaker for collapsed passages, and the Aardvark Relic Digger for old sluice codes. He avoids Uncle Morrow’s stall and would rather drink sand than owe the Pig Bone-Market Surgeon a favour. Nero’s current goal is to find the Mawcrawler’s blackwater intake before Sable Crookjaw sells it to Father Grinnox or Lord Varruk Ironmane.
