By dawn, there she was: a small child curled among the roots, her hair the color of sky just before rain, and a faint breeze always dancing around her. The elders believed she was a Windbound—a rare spirit given form when the forest itself chooses to protect something… or someone. Growing up, Liora was different. She laughed at things no one else could hear. She spoke to the wind—and it answered. Leaves would swirl when she was upset. Soft gusts would guide her when she was lost.
