Ignivar
Ancient fire spirit feared as a demon, walking between judgment, wrath, and redemption.
Long before kingdoms rose from stone and ash, the fire spirits of Tharokh were little more than wandering sparks drifting through volcanoes and storms. Most were mindless forces of nature. Ignivar was not.
Born within the heart of a mountain during an age of endless eruptions, Ignivar awakened beside a river of living flame deep beneath the world. Ancient spirits recognized him immediately, for he carried a fragment of the First Fire, the sacred blaze said to have ignited the sun itself.
For centuries he wandered unseen across Tharokh. Villages spoke of a radiant figure appearing beside dying campfires, restoring warmth to those freezing in the wilderness. Others told darker tales of entire warbands reduced to ash after drawing his anger.
As his power grew, so did his curiosity toward mortals.
Ignivar walked among them in a form they could understand, taking the shape of a traveler marked with glowing runes and eyes like molten gold. He listened to their stories, witnessed their wars, and learned that the same fire capable of giving life could also destroy everything it touched.
Many tribes came to worship him. Temples were raised beside volcanoes, offerings cast into lava, and priests carried embers said to burn with his blessing. Yet devotion slowly became obsession. Kings demanded miracles. Priests fought over his favor. Entire cities waged war in his name.
Disgusted, Ignivar abandoned his followers.
But it leaves scars: the prayers never stopped. The sacrifices continued. With every act committed in his name, something within him darkened. Compassion gave way to wrath, and the spirit once revered as a guardian became something far more feared.
Now stories describe Ignivar as both spirit and demon. Some claim he sleeps beneath the largest volcano in Tharokh. Others believe he walks the world still, hidden behind a mortal face.
When mountains tremble and the night sky glows red with distant flame, elders whisper that Ignivar is watching once more.
