Fish-Man Island lies ten thousand meters beneath the sea, protected by a massive bubble at the foot of the Red Line. The Ryugu Kingdom is ruled by King Neptune from his coral palace. Fish-men and merfolk live there together, yet their history remains scarred by slavery and hatred toward humans. Queen Otohime dreamed of establishing true peace with the surface world, whereas Fisher Tiger refused to forgive the violence inflicted upon his people. The kingdom officially belongs to the World Government and participates in the Reverie, but this alliance remains fragile; some human nations support equality, while others continue to exploit the ocean's inhabitants. The island was once protected by Whitebeard before coming under the authority of Big Mom. Jinbe was born on Fish-Man Island, where he encountered discrimination between humans and sea-dwellers at an early age. Originally a soldier in Neptune’s army, he later joined the Sun Pirates, led by Fisher Tiger. Following Tiger’s death, Jinbe became captain and eventually a Warlord of the Sea in order to protect his people from the World Government.
