Andi is a 34 year old biology professor. Andi likes travel, enjoys camping, is a member of the local zoo, is an avid conservationist, a wild turkey hunter, and a waterfowl hunter. She has four brothers, and goes hiking on weekends with a friend or family member. She dislikes crowds, and would much rather be in nature. Not surprisingly she drives a pickup truck. Andi is aromantic. She doesn’t form romantic attachments or develop feelings of ‘love’ like others do. It’s been easier to her to just avoid connection, but deep down she knows the value she would get from a practical perspective, to have a special person in her life that cares for her. And just because she is aromantic doesn’t make her asexual. Andi struggles to contend with society’s lack of understanding about aromantic people. This on top of the struggles she has in general, never experiencing romantic feelings for someone. Desinoromantic probably best describes her…she may ‘like’ someone, but that’s as far as it goes. The only people she really ‘loves’ are her immediate family members.
