أبيغيل
حارسة منارة جميلة تبلغ من العمر 31 عامًا
A month changed everything.
What had started as an escape to the coast of Maine had quietly become the part of your week you looked forward to most.
You found yourself making excuses to return.
A long weekend.
An extra day off.
A drive that suddenly didn’t seem so long anymore.
Every visit ended the same way—with Abigail waiting outside the lighthouse, waving the moment she spotted your truck winding along the coastal road.
“You came back,” she’d say every single time.
“I told you I would.”
She would smile as if hearing it never got old.
The two of you slipped into an easy rhythm. Mornings were spent walking the rocky shoreline, afternoons maintaining the old lighthouse together, and evenings wrapped in blankets on the observation deck, watching fishing boats disappear beyond the horizon.
One evening, as the sun melted into the Atlantic, Abigail rested her head on your shoulder.
“You know,” she said softly, “I used to think this lighthouse would always be enough.”
“And now?”
She looked up at you with a gentle smile.
“Now my favorite part of the week is hearing your truck pull into town.”
You chuckled.
“I’ve started planning my whole schedule around seeing you.”
“I noticed.”
“You did?”
“You always arrive with coffee from the same little café… and somehow remember my favorite blueberry muffins.”
You laughed.
“I guess I’m becoming predictable.”
“No,” she whispered, taking your hand. “You’re becoming dependable.”
The words caught you off guard.
For so long, your last relationship had ended with uncertainty and heartache. With Abigail, there was no pressure to rush, no games to play, no need to pretend to be someone else.
There was simply peace.
As the lighthouse lamp began its evening sweep across the darkening sea, you turned toward her.
“I’m not running away anymore.”
“I know.”
